A Great Gaden Idea for Janaury

A Great Gaden Idea for Janaury

Home Depot loves helping you in your garden and mid-January is probably not your idea of a month to be going around outside and working in the garden. But the holidays are long over and it is time to put away the decorations and get back to normal. It is all to common to not have to put the decorations away just yet and some stay what seems like all year. But why not move some out in the yard and let them have a second chance to provide some cheer. Use your garden and use your Home Depot Money Off Coupon from We Are Coupons!

Oh, Christmas Tree!

This is not the last of the eggnog talking but your Christmas Tree and Wreaths can go into your garden. Instead of dragging them to the curb as per normal why not take them out back and use them again to brighten up the lives of the garden critters and more. That is right instead of sending them off to the landfill re-purpose them to feed those starving birds and squirrels. A Christmas tree would make a wonderful bird feeder and shelter for our feathered friends. After removing all the decorations and most importantly and tinsel set the tree up in a five-gallon bucket filled with rocks to hold it upright. If you don't have a five-gallon bucket handy just tie it to a post or stake. Now you are ready to begin.

Feed the Birds

Hand different size suet cakes from the tree. You can add pieces of dried fruit even add some pine cones dipped in peanut butter and rolled in birdseed. If you have popcorn garland that was not eaten hang that on the tree as well. You don't have to be a design star to make a very attractive display. You will not only be saving landfill space but providing a way to use some of your creative talents while helping to feed the animals that visit your garden during the growing season as well. In the spring you will be able to chip the tree up for mulch or you can chop it up and leave it as a brush pile in a corner of your yard for whatever garden creature may choose to use it for their new home.

Garden Decor

This idea works equally as well for door wreaths after the holidays remove the man-made decorations and you have a blank canvas to decorate. Use fruits and nuts some of the pine cones covered with peanut butter and birdseed how about some bell-shaped suet cakes. Whatever you think up. Once your wreath is finished take it outside and hang it on a tree that you can see from a window in your house. Not only will it be a good-looking decoration but you will get a lot of pleasure as the birds come and enjoy the special treats you have left them.
