How to buy a tent - part 1

Camping is a popular way to vacation throughout the United States.  Home Depot has a wide range of camping essentials and by using a Home Depot Money Off Coupon you can save money on all of them.  Buying a tent is a big part of camping and here are a few tips on how to buy a tent.

If you plan to camp in a tent by car, size and weight should not be a big issue. If a three-person tent is designed to feel larger than it actually is, try visiting a tent store to pitch your tent before you pull the trigger.

The type of tent you buy depends on the type of tent you are planning. Trust me, you don't want a big family tent if you plan to pack your tent or return to your campsite. Remember that you can take a backpack with a mountaineering tent and camp in a backpack tent, but if you don't have a backpack with you, you probably haven't tried mountaineering, winter camping, backpacking or camping in a tent.

If you plan to camp it is a good rule of thumb to buy a tent that is at least one person larger than you need. If your trip includes driving to the campsite and unloading from the car, you should choose a larger tent so that the weight is not a big problem. You will find that a 4-person tent is more comfortable than two people, and that you will have space to spread and store your equipment.

If you're serious about backpacking, look for tents that weigh less than 2 pounds per person. Tent tarpaulins and pyramid shelters are becoming increasingly popular, but there are options for people looking for something lighter and smaller. If you're camping by car, don't worry about weight, but if you're traveling with a backpack, look for a lighter multi-purpose tent.

If your campsite is deep in the wilderness and you are backpacking, a light tent is the best option. You will want to make sure your tent fits into your backpack by strapping it to the outside of your backpack. Weight is an important consideration, but you also need to make sure it fits in your backpack and is strapped to the inside and outside of the tent.

If you are camping by car, you will want to know how much space your tent takes up. The tent capacity is based on square area, and many standard sleeping bags fit into a tent. If you are planning to travel using your vehicle, it is not so much the size and weight of the tent that matters as how well it fits into your car or truck.

For example, if a tent is listed as three-person tent it will accommodate a maximum of three people. It goes without saying that people come in different shapes and sizes and some work better in two-person tents but people are not cut out like others for them.

Many forums say that the best rule of thumb for a person is 20 square meters to sleep in a tent. It is wise to consider this as an absolute minimum when shopping.
